Welcome

UPDATE – WINTER 2012

It’s official!! Asheville’s seasoned Southern Rock powerhouse, Velvet Truckstop, has released their new studio effort, Southbound and Down for worldwide digital distribution!! Recorded just outside of Muscle Shoals, Southbound and Down invites the listener to enjoy the maturity and progression of the band.

Produced by the legendary Johnny Sandlin (Capricorn Records, Allman Brothers Band, Widespread Panic, +), the album features a true look into the bands heavy southern rock, blues influence. Sandlin’s work with Velvet Truckstop gives the album an authentic rock and roll sound, purified with some authentic Alabama Mojo.

Southbound and Down captures the band at the height of their game. Sandlin’s ability to draw the group out of their comfort zone has given the album more of an Alt-Country, Americana feel than their last album, Sweet Release.

Grammy Award winner, Randall Bramblett (Bonnie Raitt, Robbie Robertson, Steve Winwood), contributed two tracks to Southbound and Down. Bramblett, who is heavily influenced by blues, folk and gospel, penned “Another Sweet Dream” and “Water In The Well.”

Velvet Truckstop will officially release Southbound and Down in 2013 and follow the release with many shows sponsored by Highland Brewing Company from Asheville, N.C. The brewery will provide special giveaways at each sponsored event.

Velvet Truckstop also is very excited to be “going out west” to Colorado for 3 weeks in March!! More details coming soon.

The name Velvet Truckstop works off of two disparate images: a velvet Elvis and an interstate diner. But it calls to mind something else — something decidedly Southern, yet traveled; something blue collar, yet decadent; something familiar, yet slightly dangerous. All of which work pretty well when it comes to the sound of the rockers who go by that moniker.
